Liner Notes:

Much fuss and noise is made about Australian identity in 'thee aaarts' and 'Jaaaaazz' as they say. These 11 compositions are written by Australians (primarily in the 21st Century) and performed by Australians (wholly in the 21st Century).

Each one of these tunes was carefully hand picked from the dewey and scented morning shrubbery of potential music, then lovingly cradled in the arms of a virginal Papuan nun as it was transported to New Sheiks HQ in the pompous suburbs of inner city Melbourne.

'Last Trams' has appeared before in drummer Allan Browne's oeuvre. As has 'Gertrude' and 'Leo', from the book of the fabulous 'Frock'. Japanese Moonlight has been recorded before by Tom Vincent, and all the other pieces are on debut. We sincerely hope that if you enjoy what you hear you will seek out these great composers and performers, John Scurry, Anthony Schulz, and Tom Vincent. Also check out 'The Band Who Knew Too Much', who sneaked on to this CD in the post production phase...

'The Piano Player' is three different interpretations of the Blues. 'I'll Be Going Too' is a traditional ballad. 'Waltz' is played colla voce, the rhythm section follows Matt, so not really a waltz at all. 'Tilba Tilba Tilba' has been in our book since 2004, and is a new take on 'Honeysuckle Rose'.

Dig the stunning pictures taken by Papa New Sheik from his trip motorcycling around the great continent of Orstrayliaar.
